When you have sent your order to us, you will receive the recovery set a couple of weeks before the birth date. Please take it with you to the clinic; then you can concentrate on the great event, because we will look after everything else. The recovery of stem cells from the umbilical cord blood is entirely free of any risk for the mother and child, because the stem cells are only recovered after cutting the cord.

In order to ensure that everything works perfectly until storage, we have developed a comprehensive service and courier system. We cooperate with more than 850 delivery clinics in Germany as well as many hospitals in Austria and Switzerland. In order to ensure the best possible quality of the preparation of the blood from the umbilical cord, the delivery teams of the clinics, comprising thousands of doctors, nurses and midwives, are regularly trained by us personally.

Sophisticated logistics thanks to twelve years of experience
Babies are rarely delivered on the date they are due. For this reason, the courier of Vita 34 is available around the clock every day of the year. This ensures that the valuable umbilical cord blood reaches our laboratory at an average of 20 hours after birth.

To ensure that the blood is best protected during transport to our stem cell laboratory, we have developed a special transport system with permanent temperature monitoring.

 

In the stem cell laboratory of Vita 34, the blood from the umbilical cord is processed immediately after its arrival. This is conducted in highly sterile clean-rooms, which are 100 times cleaner than a hospital operating theatre. Then the blood from the umbilical cord is cooled down by computer to minus 145°C. The long-term storage is conducted in self-regulating cooling tanks with liquid nitrogen at minus 190°C.

At such low temperatures the metabolism in the stem cells stops entirely. Without metabolism the stem cells do not age. Studies of the Fraunhofer Institute for Biomedical Technology, and indeed our own tests, show that the stem cells can be kept for decades.

Parallel to the freezing process, comprehensive control tests of the mother’s and of the umbilical cord blood for HIV, hepatitis or CMV, for instance, are started.

Only after we have completed all these tests do you receive a certificate and our invoice, which you can pay in very small monthly instalments, starting at just EUR 25.81 per month.
