Treatments with stem cells from umbilical cord blood stored at Vita 34
Vita 34 is the oldest and most experienced German bank for blood of the umbilical cord for private use. Many of our developments have become recognised standards. The company founder Dr Eberhard Lampeter, immunologist and diabetes specialist, is a pioneer of storing blood of the umbilical cord. He has improved many methods with his team and set quality standards.
As the possibility to store blood of the umbilical cord has existed in Germany for only 13 years, everybody who has their own stem cell deposit are still very young. But nevertheless, Vita 34 has already been able to contribute to the saving of several seriously ill children.

A couple of months after his treatment at Hanover Medical College, his blood values had stabilised. Thanks to the preparation by his parents, Jan can today live a normal, healthy life. Read more...
Leukemia treatment with own stem cell deposit
For a three-year-old girl from the US with acute lymphoblastic leukaemia, her own stem cell deposit was the saviour in early 2007. A course of chemotherapy and the search for a suitable stem cell donator had previously been unsuccessful. For the first time, own blood of the umbilical cord was thus used for a case of leukaemia. Vita 34 and TU Munich treat diabetes type 1 with stem cells from blood of the umbilical cord
In a study the research group Diabetes of the Technical University (TU) of Munich and Vita 34 are now to examine the effectiveness of blood of the umbilical cord for type-1 diabetes for the very first time in Germany. Here, children with type 1 diabetes will be administered their own blood of the umbilical cord which was previously stored at Vita 34. In March 2009 the first patient was a little girl. Possible long-term risks of the sugar disease, such as going blind, damage to the nerves or kidney failure, could be reduced if treated with blood of the umbilical cord, suggest the results of a US study. The objective is to achieve, inasmuch possible, a normalisation of the blood sugar levels through stem cell treatment. Read more...
